Getting Started

  • Registration: Once you are enrolled at your school your student will automatically be assigned to the closest stop to your home address.  In the event of an address change please communicate this to your school.
  • Bus Rules: Students eligible to ride 4J buses will receive a letter at the beginning of the school year explaining district and state school bus rules and regulations. Parents are expected to go over these rules with their children to help assure they will be safe while riding the bus.
  • Bus Stops: Bus-riding students are assigned a stop based on where they live. Students must use their assigned stop unless they have written permission from a parent or guardian and the school to do otherwise. Other students may be allowed to ride the bus under certain circumstances; parents should call the 4J Transportation Department at 541-790-7474.

Who Can Ride?

Elementary and Middle School: Elementary students who live 1 mile or more from their neighborhood school and middle school students who live 1.5 miles or more from their neighborhood school may ride 4J buses to and from that school. Exceptions are granted for students who live closer than the 1-mile or 1.5-mile limits, but who cannot safely walk to school.

Families enrolled in alternative schools and families who have chosen to transfer to another neighborhood school must provide their own transportation, except for those who receive transportation as part of their special needs program.

Other Transportation Options

Walk, Bike or Carpool: The Point2Point SchoolSolutions program provides a free walk group, bike group and carpool match service to help you connect with nearby families whose students attend the same school.
