Awbrey Park News 11/30/2020

Dear Awbrey Park Families,
We will have Supply Pick-Up from 8:00-5:00 on December 3.  The supplies will include upcoming math and reading lessons.  We will also have goodies for the Winter Wonderland Family Night.  We hope that your family can pick these up.
We will have Winter Wonderland Family Fun Night on December 10 from 6:30-7:30.  Make a cup of hot cocoa or cider, get your supplies, and join us on Zoom to do some fun winter activities with your whole family.  We will be sending the supplies home in the December 3 supply pickup.  Please check out the attached flyer, here.

PTO is Monday, December 7 at 6:30.  The first 30 minutes will be lead by our teachers, Jamie Tait and Ashley Shofner, on how to support your students in math.  We don’t teach just using algorithm as many of us learned growing up.  The challenge is that only using that approach, if a student doesn’t know a math fact or makes a mistake, they are sunk.  We want our students to have a better understanding of how math works.  There are more than one way to solve a math problem.  Jamie will do a break out session for 3-5th grades and Ashley will do one for K-2.  The Math session will last for 30 minutes.  We will  continue with the regular PTO meeting at 7:00.  This will last for approximately a half hour.

Inviting You To Participate!  Do you have a little extra to give this year to help support Awbrey Park kiddos?
The winter break and holiday are quickly approaching!  This time of year can be very stressful for families and of course due to our current COVID circumstances, some families are finding themselves in a place of needing some extra assistance.  We are working to help support some of our Awbrey Park students and families during this time. Each year we work to help out our families during this time.
We will be collecting can food at our December 3 Supply pickup.  Each year, we do a can food drive in conjunction with North Eugene High School.  These can foods go out to our North Eugene families.
This year, due to COVID, we are having to provide assistance in a different way.  We will be providing food boxes and gift certificates to help with the December holiday.  There are two ways you can donate. The first way is through our PTO square trade website by clicking on the link below. The other option is to purchase gift cards in increments of $25 from places such Target, Fred Meyer or Amazon.  We are trying to purchase gift cards to places that have a variety of choices for purchase.  The gift cards can be dropped off at Awbrey Park stating that they are for Holiday Help.  If this could please be done by Friday, December 11 that would be great!
