Dear Awbrey Park Families

We have Family Engineering Night this Thursday from 6:00-7:30.  This is a great chance for the family to get together and have a blast.

Discover the fun of engineering through hands-on activities for the whole family.  We have sent home flyers asking to RSVP.  We want to make sure we have enough materials for everyone.

  • Have fun with your family—all ages welcome!
  • Spanish language materials available.
  • Raffle prizes
  • Book Fair open before and after the event (5:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:30-8:00 p.m.)

Our Spring Scholastic Book Fair is here! We hope you will join us! Our Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits. It’s a great time to stock up on books for your child to read this summer.

Book Fair Dates:

Monday, May 18—2:30-3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 19—8:00-8:30 a.m., 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Wednesday May 20—1:30-2:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 21—8:00-8:30 a.m. (before and after STEM Night) 5:30-6:00 p.m., 7:30-8:00 p.m.

Our 4th/5th grade Choir is performing at the 4J Elementary Choral Festival at the North Eugene High School auditorium on Tuesday night at 6:30.  The festival is where four Eugene elementary schools will perform.  Thanks to Mrs. Yarbro for putting on this performance.  Our Choir rocks!
We have our first no host pre-kindergarten playdate at 3:00 on Wednesday.  This is a chance for our pre-Kinders to come and play and get used to their school.  If you know of anyone who is coming to our school next year and they have not made contact–please have them call our office.  We want to help students transition into our school in a positive manner.

Our last Academy Day is on Friday.  This is a no school day.  Again, this is where we have increased the school day all year long to provide extra time to do professional development on three no school days so that we can be better prepared to teach our kids.  We will be working on professional development regarding our new reading curriculum and will also work on writing.

We will need volunteers for our last two big events that are coming up.  We will have Carnival on June 4 from 5:45–8:00.  We will have a Dunk Tank, Bounce House, facepainting and games.  We are asking parents to come and bring a picnic dinner.  We will have desert.  The games will start at 6:00 and we could use the help.  We will have Field Day on June 8.  This is where students do different events.  The students love it.  Please let us know if you can volunteer for either of these activities.

We have a Mucho Gusto Fundraiser on Wednesday and Thursday.  You must have the flyer which came out in today’s Monday Mailer.  We appreciate the support from Westraunt Concepts for allowing this fundraiser.
