Dear Awbrey Park Families,

We will have a blast at Hot Dogs & Hot Rods on Tuesday from 5:30-7:30.

We changed the date from last Thursday because of the weather.  Hot Dogs & Hot Rods is a chance for our whole community to come together and celebrate the beginning of school.  We will have Hot Dog Dinners for $1.  There will be a Dunk Tank.  We will have a Police Car, a Fire Truck and the wonderful Hot Rods.  The Hot Rods really make this a fun, special event.  If you know of anyone who has a Hot Rod (or cool car of any type), please persuade them to come and show it off.  We have trophies for the Adults’ Choice and Kids’ Choice.  You will have the chance to meet Kingston–our mascot.  This is also an opportunity to order Bulldog Spirit Gear.

Come and join us on Curriculum Nights

This is a great chance to meet your child’s teacher, get an idea of how the class runs, the best way to communicate with the teacher, and some key points of the curriculum.  This night is for parents since the kids already know what is going on in the classes.

We have broken it into two nights because many parents have children in multiple grade levels.  We didn’t want to make a parent chose to go to only one session.  The grade levels will also go at different times.

Grades 3-5 will be on Thursday, October 1.

  •   3-4 will run from 6:00—6:30. Parents will go right to the classroom for the teacher presentation.  At 6:30, parents will go to the gym for a short presentation about our Title Reading and school-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) programs.
  •   5th grade parents will come at 6:40 for the Title and PBIS program in the gym. They will go to the classroom at 7:00 for the teacher presentation.

Grades K-2 will be on Wednesday, October 7.

  •   K-1 will run from 6:00—6:30. Parents will go right to the classroom for the teacher presentation.  At 6:30, parents will go to the gym for a short presentation about our Title Reading program and school-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) program.
  •  2nd grade parents will come at 6:40 for the Title and PBIS program in the gym. They will go to the classroom at 7:00 for the teacher presentation.

We will have daycare for both nights.  The number of children we can take is limited.  If possible, children should stay home.  If not, they will be in the cafeteria while their parents go to the different presentations.

We have Site Council from 3:00–4:00 on Tuesday, September 22.
We will not have school on October 3 This is a Professional Development day.  Awbrey Park is one of seven elementary schools that have a longer instructional day.  This time is then used for professional development.  We will be working on implementing our new Reading curriculum.
