Newsletter 10-22-2017

Dear Awbrey Park Families,
Our kids were awesome in the Jog-A-Thon.  They did so well.  They were constantly moving–running, jogging, or walking.  The Awbrey kids were so impressive.  We appreciate all the support.  The last day to turn in Jog-A-Thon envelopes is on Tuesday, Oct. 24.  Your support makes all the difference at Awbrey!

Friday, Oct. 27 is Movie Night!  We will be showing Boss Baby starting at 6:00 and ending at 7:30.  It is a free event and we will also have free popcorn.  Bring a pad or blanket to lay on the gym floor.  Kids can also dress up in pajamas or wear a costume.  If students want to wear a costume it should not include a mask, weapon-like props, no especially scary or gory costumes that would scare a kindergarten student.  Parents and guardians do need to stay at the movie.  This is not an event where students can be dropped off without parents or guardians being there.

We have two OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) assemblies on Oct. 31.  Thanks to the support of the PTO, we have these great opportunity to stretch our students’ knowledge in fun and exciting ways.
Wednesday, Oct 25 is our Awbrey Park Spirit Day. Please dress up in either Awbrey gear or the colors red and white. Go Bulldogs!

Please remember if you are bringing food for a birthday or class celebration to follow the Eugene School District Wellness policy.  The link is here.

Having your child at school is so important. We know that students who miss school in elementary school are much more likely to continue that trend in middle and high school. Non-attendance is usually the number one factor of a student dropping out or having a low GPA in high school. Please have your child at school and ready for our 8:25 start. When students come in late, they are often unsettled as they try to figure out what everyone else is doing.
