Awbrey Park Families,

Our school is full of spirit! We will have our annual Awbrey Park Tailgater on November 21 in honor of the Oregon-Oregon State Football game later that week. Parents are invited to come and eat lunch with kids. We will set it up like a real tailgater with all of us eating outside. We will be under cover in case the weather isn’t wonderful—but it never rains at Autzen Stadium or Awbrey Park!

The Sanipac Duck Truck will be here rocking “The Park.” This is a tricked out garbage truck that looks like a limousine inside, with a barbecue, and great music. It is painted in Duck colors. The truck is in pristine condition. The North Eugene High School Cheer squad will be there. We will have special lunches on that day. Students will eat and then play tailgating games. It will be awesome!

K-1 Lunch–11:20 Recess/tailgating games 11:45-12:05

2-3 Lunch–11:55 Recess/tailgating games 12:20-12:40

4-5 Lunch–12:30 Recess/tailgating 12:55-1:15

Every student will get to have lunch for free. Of course, they can also bring their own lunch from home. Parents can buy a hot dog lunch for $2.00. The normal price is $4.00, but we were able to reduce it for this special event. Parents can come and just hang out with their kids and not eat lunch. The more, the merrier. The lunch will include: hot dog, baked beans, red potatoes, potato salad, fruit salad, carrots, apples, pickles, tomatoes, onions, sliced cheese, shredded lettuce, and a cookie.

RSVP—We want to make sure we have enough food. Please return the bottom portion by Monday, November 14.

Talented and Gifted (TAG)- Gifted and talented students are those whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special services to meet their educational needs. Gifted and talented students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior either intellectually, academically or a potential to perform. If you would like more information regarding TAG or think your child may qualify for TAG please contact our Awbrey Park counselor/TAG coordinator, Kristen Gianforti. If you are possibly interested in TAG testing please contact Kristen by Monday, Dec. 5 as our first round of TAG testing for the year will take place in the beginning of January.

TAG Resources– Are you interested in receiving information about community programs and other resources for high learners? There is a parent list serve you can be added to. Your child does not need to be TAG or TAG identified to receive these resources. If you are interested send your name and e-mail address to Kristen Gianforti at gianforti_k@4j.lane.edu

Please label all coats, sweatshirts, sweaters, rain jackets, (basically anything that might be taken off at school) lunch boxes, water bottles, backpacks, etc. Labeled items will be a lot easier to get back to you if left at school. We routinely have a huge pile of clothes in our lost and found. We have laid it out on tables and had students go through it today, but still end up with so many unclaimed items

School hours

Our Office hours are from 8:00-4:00. Students are supervised starting at 8:00 in the cafeteria/gym. Please do not drop off students before 8:00. We want our students safe and there is no one to supervise them before 8:00.

Friday is Veteran’s Day and is a federal holiday so there will be no school.

Parent Conferences are on November 21 and 22. There will be no school on November 22 or 23.
