Dear Awbrey Park Families,

We are so excited to let you know that we have raised over $12,500 dollars from our Jog-A-Thon.  That is outstanding!  That is more than last year and will make such a difference for our students.  I am so appreciative of our families’ support for school.  You all go above and beyond to make a difference for our kids.  Thank you so much!  Our kids had so much fun running.  A special thank you to Lisel Hilson, our Jog-A-Thon Coordinator.  Lisel organized the event and helped make it such a success.  Our PTO stepped up and really made this fun for kids.  Thanks again for the late change in date because of weather.  I appreciate everyone’s flexibility to make this a wonderful event for Awbrey Park.

Friday Night is Movie Night!  We will be showing Hotel Transylvania 2 starting at 6:00 and ending at 7:30.  It is a free event and we will also have free popcorn.  Bring a pad or blanket to lay on the gym floor.  Kids can also dress up in pajamas or wear a costume.  If students want to wear a costume it should not include a mask, weapon-like props, no especially scary or gory costumes that would scare a kindergarten student.  Parents and guardians do need to stay at the movie.  This is not an event where students can be dropped off without parents or guardians being there.

Bulldog Gear is available to buy.  This is a great way to show Awbrey Park pride.  The PTO sells these clothes at costs and makes no money on these sales.  Orders must be in by November 4.  Click here to download the flyer. This form also went home in Monday Mailer.

Monday, October 31, is a no school day.  This is one of the three Academy Days that we have throughout the year.   This is where we have increased the school day all year long to provide extra time to do professional development on three no school days.  These allow us to be better prepared to teach our kids.  We will be working on formative assessment to determine what our students know while we are instructing them.  Formative assessment allow teachers to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used to improve instruction and by students to improve their learning.

November 17 is Picture Makeup Day.  More on this later.

We will have our Oregon/Oregon State Tailgater on November 21.  Save the date.  This is where parents and guardians are invited to come and eat a barbeque lunch with your kids on the week of the Oregon/Oregon State football game.  It is not about football, but an opportunity to get together and celebrate that we all are Oregonians.  It is a blast!  On that day, we will have Tailgater lunches at the times below:

K-1 Lunch–11:20
2-3 Lunch–11:55
4-5 Lunch–12:30

Parent conferences are on November 21 from 4:00-8:00 pm and on November 22 from 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.  Registration forms came home in the Monday Mailer.
