Dear Awbrey Park Families,
With the wonderful weather, it seems like Spring Break has already struck.  We love going outdoors for recess!

The ACE Award deadline to enter candidates is March 15.  This is a great chance to recognize the hard work and excellence our staff and volunteers do.  Who always makes a difference in your child’s school day?  An inspiring teacher? An encouraging school secretary? A dedicated volunteer? A bus driver who always takes the time to listen? Now is the time to recognize their contributions through the annualACE (A Champion in Education)Awards!

To nominate a 4J employee or volunteer who demonstrates excellence in education, go to www.theaceawards.org. Every nominee will be honored at an awards ceremony in April, and one person in each category will win a $1,000 cash prize toward a project or program in their school.   Nominations must be submitted by March 15.  The ACE Awards are a collaborative effort of the Eugene and Springfield chambers of commerce and the Eugene, Bethel and Springfield school districts.  The program is presented by Oregon Community Credit Union and supported by others from the local business community.

Students are finishing up our school-wide art projects with artist Samuel Becerra.  In April, we will place our sculptures of dogs, paws and bones all along our fence.  Each student will be able to point out their contribution to make our fence more kid friendly.  This will help build the Awbrey Park community spirit.  Go Bulldogs!

Friday is a Professional Development day for staff and no school for students.  We will be working on how to set objectives so that it is more clear of what our lessons are about.  We will also be working on our writing program and our Morning Meeting.  The Morning Meeting is where we build community in each classroom.

Spring Break will be from March 21-29.  The first day of school will be Monday, March 30.
