Dear Awbrey Park Families,
It is amazing to me that we are half way through the year!  We have seen so much growth from so many different kiddos.  Some who have struggled to stay on task or complete their work, are doing so much better.  The rate of students staying on task and completing work has really improved as they year has gone on.  Our students are really coming through and we know that the second semester will show even more growth.

We had the 4J Schools Showcase last Saturday It was an opportunity for families to find out more about schools.  Amy Anderson (who along with Sarah Grace will be our kindergarten teachers for next year) Kristen Gianforti and I had a great time talking to parents about the terrific things about Awbrey Park.  We will have school tours this week on Wednesday at 12:00 and Thursday at 9:00.  We will also have tours in February.  If you know of any parents who have kindergarteners entering school for next year, please have them contact the office so they can join the fun.  A PTO member and I will take the parents on the tour.

There will be an information forum about Oregon’s new state tests at North Eugene High School Tuesday, January 27, from 7–9 p.m.  Education leaders at the state and local level will discuss Oregon’s transition to the Smarter Balanced assessments in
English and math. Come learn more about:
• DIFFERENCES between our previous state tests and the new Smarter Balanced
• What higher standards and more challenging state tests MEAN FOR OUR
• How parents can SUPPORT THEIR STUDENTS and schools during this transition.
Spanish interpretation will be provided.

Our Site Council will be meeting on Wednesday to continue working on our school goals.  Every three years, the school develops the main focus of how we can improve.  This process started when we surveyed parents earlier this year.  We will continue working on this for the remainder of the Spring.

Grading Day is this Friday.  We will not have school on that day.  Report Cards will be going home to parents on February 9.

We have a PTO meeting on February 2 at 6:00.  Please come and join the fun.  We are getting excited about Craft Night which will be on February 12.  That will be an awesome night where students get to make their own crafts.
