Newsletter 12/19/2014

We appreciate all the care that our students, families, and staff have for the Awbrey Park community.  During this winter time, it is very difficult for some families.  When I was a child, our family would have been one of those families that could have used help.  We never got it.  It makes me so appreciative of the Awbrey community in helping others.  We have partnered with Riviera Baptist Church, SAIF Corporation, St. Mathews Episcopal Church, and North Eugene High School to provide–48 families with presents.  This includes 97 kids getting gifts.  We are also helping provide food boxes for 30 families.  We really appreciate our whole caring Awbrey Park Community!

We had a great time at our Frozen Sing-A-Long.  We had about 300 kids, parents and staff singing “Let It Go.”  Thank goodness their voices drowned out mine.  It was a bit more energetic than we planned, but kids had a great time.

School will be out during the winter break from December 19January 4.  School will resume on January 5.

There have been some district parent meetings about Common Core.  If you are interested in learning more about it, here is a link that will give you more information.  Some of our parents found it very helpful.

Our district is searching for a new superintendent, and we need your input. There are three days left to complete the survey about what you would like to see in the district’s next superintendent—the survey closes on Sunday at midnight.

If you have not yet completed the survey, please take a few minutes to do so between now and Sunday. If needed, we can provide you with access to a computer to complete the survey. Our school is open from 8:00 to 4:00, and the 4J Education Center at 200 N. Monroe St. is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thank you for your time completing this important survey.
