We had a great time with our Tailgater last week before the Oregon-Oregon State game.  The kids had fun dressing up in their team’s colors.  We had over a 125 parents show up for it.  Wow!  It will be even better next year since we will have all day kindergarten.  They will be able to join the fun.  As we told kids, everyone is an Oregon fan.  Some cheered for Oregon State University and others for the University of Oregon.

We have to rescheduled our Cookies and Construction that was scheduled for December 11 for later this year.  To keep the fun going we will have a “Frozen” sing-a-long movie night from 6:00–7:30 on Thursday, December 11.  We will be watching the sing-a-long version so that our kiddos and families can show what great voices they have.  I sing terribly, but am enthusiastic.  Enthusiasm is the key to a sing-a-long.  We all will have a blast.  We are suggesting that kids (and parents if they want to) dress up in pajamas and will be able to sit on mats to watch the show. Don’t forget to visit the Book Fair before or after the event!

Our Book Sale is going on from December 8-12 in Room 13 in the yellow hallway.  This is a great way to get books for your family and support Awbrey Park.  We use the proceeds to buy more books.  The Book Book Fair hours are:
Monday December 8 2:30-3:30
Tuesday December 9 8:00-8:30, 2:30-3:30
Wednesday December 10 1:30-2:30
Thursday December 11 8:00-8:30, 5:00-6:00, and 7:30-8:30
Friday December 12   2:30-3:30
You can go to the Book Fair before and after Frozen.

We are doing our Food Drive–Project Give–in conjunction with North Eugene High School.  Please help us collect non-perishable items (canned, boxed, or jarred food).  There will be a box in every classroom.  Bring all food to your classroom box.  The drive will begin today and end on December 17.  We will judge which classroom has collected the most food and they will earn a special prize.  Your donations will go to help Awbrey Park families in need.

We have a PTO meeting on Monday, December 8 at 6:00.  Please come and join the fun.

On our Professional Development day, we worked on setting objectives for lessons.  This is to make sure our instruction is more focused.  We also surveyed staff on what is going well at Awbrey Park and what we need to work on.  There is still time to take the Parent Survey which is listed below.  This information helps us as our Site Council works on a three year school improvement plan.
You can take the parent survey online at:

We are loving the change in weather.  Cold, warm, rain, almost snow–it is different every day.  Please make sure your kids have a jacket.  It might be nice in the morning and then get really cold or wet later on.
